This large atlas arrived in poor condition with extensive damage to both the text block and the binding.
Several of the large folded plates had come loose and were badly torn.
The 1/2 leather binding was also badly worn and was being held together with some very heavy taping.
All pages were surface cleaned and the loose pages were reconnected to their guards.
The extensively damaged endpapers were replaced with acid free paper.
The taping was removed from the binding, the leather lifted and a new spine placed, with the remains of the old spine being remounted. The board corners were also strengthened with leather.
The result is a volume that can now be handled and referred to without fear of further damage.
